Short on time, or landing on an afternoon flight? Don't worry, you can still see two of Kathmandu's greatest sights. Pashupatinath and Boudhanath sit only 2 km apart on the east side of the city, and between them they show you the two faiths that have shaped Kathmandu for centuries.
At Pashupatinath you'll follow the Bagmati past the cremation ghats, the eleven stone shrines and a whole hillside of little Shiva temples, while your guide explains the rituals of a Hindu cremation. Then it's on to Boudhanath, where you can join the circle of pilgrims around the stupa, step into a monastery to hear the monks chanting (if a puja is under way), and enjoy a coffee on a rooftop facing the stupa's famous eyes.
Choose a morning start at 8:30 or an afternoon start at 1:30, whichever suits your plans.

Questions about this tour
What should I wear?
Something that covers your shoulders and knees, and shoes you can slip on and off easily. Some temples will ask you to take off your shoes and any leather items before you go in.
Are entrance fees included?
No. You'll pay the fees in Nepali rupees at each gate, and your guide will show you where. Hang on to your ticket, though, as some sites check it more than once.
Can we change the order or add a stop?
Of course! The tour is private, so your guide can swap sites around or add a short stop on the way, as long as everything still fits into the day.
