Nagarjun Forest Hike to Jamacho

Nagarjun is the forested hill on the valley's north-western edge, inside Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. Monkeys, barking deer and all sorts of birds live in the forest, and the trail climbs steadily under oak and rhododendron to Jamacho, at just over 2,100 m. Up top, a small stupa and a viewing tower look out across to the Ganesh and Langtang ranges.

It's only 20 minutes from Thamel to the park gate, so this is a great choice if you'd like a proper walk but only have half a day.
