When the city starts to feel a bit much, Godawari is the perfect antidote. Nepal's National Botanical Garden opened here in 1962, at the foot of Phulchowki, the highest hill on the valley rim. Its glasshouses, orchid house, fern and cactus collections and little streams make for a wonderfully calm half day, and the forest around it is one of the best spots in the valley for birdwatching.
Your guide will walk the garden with you, and then you can visit the springs at Godawari Kunda before driving back through the villages of the southern valley.
