Patan has been the valley's city of craftspeople for centuries, and its lanes are still full of workshops casting bronze statues by the ancient lost-wax method. On this tour you'll meet the people who actually make the things you see in the shops, so you'll know exactly what you're buying and who you're buying it from.
After Patan's workshops, you'll visit the Tibetan refugee community at Jawalakhel, where carpets are still knotted by hand, and finish at Boudhanath, where thangka painters work away in the studios around the stupa. Your guide is happy to help with prices, but there's no commission and absolutely no pressure to buy.
