Mountain Bike: Chovar, Bungamati and Chapagaon

This is the valley's farmland ride, and it's a lovely one. Legend has it that the bodhisattva Manjushri cut the Chovar gorge with his sword to drain the lake that once filled the valley. From there, you'll follow dirt roads and field paths south to Bungamati, a Newar village famous for its woodcarvers and the temple of Rato Machhindranath.

The route then carries on through Khokana and the fields to Chapagaon and the forest shrine of Bajra Barahi, with gentle climbs and plenty of stops along the way.
