Mountain Bike: Mudkhu, Jhor and Tokha

Our easiest mountain bike ride: rolling dirt roads from Mudkhu past the Jhor waterfalls to the old Newar town of Tokha.

The jeep climbs the Trishuli road to Mudkhu, about 8 km out of the city, and from there the ride rolls along dirt roads and farm tracks below the Shivapuri forest. You'll pass the Mahankal temple and the little waterfalls at Jhor, and finish in Tokha, a Newar town known for its chaku, a molasses sweet made every winter.

If you'd rather enjoy the scenery than battle the climbs, or you're riding as a family, this is the ride for you.

  1. Mudkhu to Tokha

    • 8:30 AM pickup by jeep to Mudkhu (about 8 km on the Trishuli road).
    • Ride via Jhor and Mahankal to Tokha, with lunch on the way.
    • Jeep back to your hotel, arriving at about 2:30 PM.

Questions about this tour

Do I need mountain biking experience?

You should be comfortable riding on dirt roads. You can always walk the steeper sections, and the jeep can pick you up if you've had enough.

Can I bring my own bike, pedals or saddle?

Yes, of course. Just tell us in the booking notes and we'll fit them before you set off.
